EMG Training Lab -Entomology/IPM-Pesticides, Saturday, July 11, 9 a.m. - 11 a.m. approximately.
Identify pests and diseases of vegetables and flowers and how to manage these, depending on the goals of the gardener. Nets, magnifiers and two microscopes available to get up close and personal! Instructor - Elizabeth Tomlin, EMG, DMGA - degrees in entomology and forestry with emphasis on integrated pest management and chemical ecology.
Location: Home of Elizabeth Tomlin - 597 Wilderness Trail, Pelham, NC 27311 - drive to the very end of Wilderness Trail, red barn on the right and white house on the left + gardens, chickens and guineas (drive slowly and they will move:) Map will be sent by text or email, car-pooling available.
Preparation: Complete IPM and Entomology modules and quizzes. Dress appropriately for hands-on work in the garden and sun protection, closed-toe shoes. Waters provided, restroom available, can bring your own snacks. Will observe garden and pests first, then go inside for discussion and microscopic review.
